Skip Reardon : 10 challenges leaders face on the pursuit of excellence

  1. Communication - people lack clarity and direction, limiting innovation
  2. Accountability - measurements of and responsibility for results are insufficient
  3. Engagement - people don't seem to care as much or aren't sure of their role
  4. Alignment - activities aren't connected with mission and strategy
  5. Direction - disconnect between planning, strategy and execution
  6. Transition - a desire to "pass the torch" successfully
  7. Control - things "feel" out of synch
  8. Frustration - excessive friction in daily work
  9. Risk Management - profit variability versus growth rate
  10. Consistency - not sticking with an ongoing method, persistence

I already struggled with the third problem, at the early stage of the company (actually, before it was incorporated).
I concluded that, collaborators being sure of their position, even if that position is not what you really wanted, is better than contrary, simply because they are more productive and enthusiasts where they wanted to be.

Hello world! (again)

Hello world !

I was born in 1987 in French Guyana but raised in Guadeloupe, until the age of 19.

At the (sweet) age of 8, I touched a computer for the first time of my life. It was a powermac 6200 (75mhz, 8MB of ram, 500MB of HD, without modem). Actually, I hadn’t even touched it yet, I already knew there was something about it.

When I was 10, I started editing little programs, discovered the HTML and the power, the beautifulness of hyperlinks.

Four years later, new computer, with modem and Internet Subscription : the wheels are in motion. I discover and start using, in disorder: php / mysql / flash / javascript / xhtml / css / realbasic / cryptography / irc(!) / linux / ruby on rails / … I created dozen of bigger or smaller programs and websites… and i started blogging in 2003 and never stopped since.

Things were not going as fast as expected so i gathered as much money as i could, mainly through internet related projects, and left in July 2007.

Once in london, I started working for a fantastic Search Engine Optimization company named Distilled, that I would part from only 5 months later, to launch my own company.

So, as you guessed, this will be my first english weblog, I hope you won’t mind the mistakes to come…

Thank you very much.
